2004年河南省慈善总会与少林寺联合策划发起“千名孤儿救助暨少林慈幼院筹建活动”。对全省1036名16岁以下父母双亡(有监护人)的特困孤儿进行资助，由少林寺筹资对每个孤儿发放每年人民币560元的生活学习资助金，直至他们成年。少林寺还将逐年收养50名孤儿，“少林慈幼院”计划收养300名孤儿。我认为这是一件非常有意义的事情，它涉及中国慈善事业、佛教事业、社会保障问题、弱势群体和人与人之间的和谐关系等诸多问题。“千名孤儿救助活动”一定会对这些孩子的命运产生影响。出于影像工作者的本能，我想用肖像档案的方式来记录和见证这个充满仁慈与爱心的行动。计划每五年一次用不同的影像方式跟踪记录他们的生活与变化，同时制作文本档案和影展在国内外传播。《孤儿档案》不是简单的影像作品，它对我的影像态度和艺术观念将会产生重要影响。

　　我相信在这样一个充满人类之爱的世界里，这些孤儿今后的人生之路不再孤独和无助!

　　让我们共同为这1000名孤儿祝福!也让我们用影像来共同关注他们今后的命运。。。。。。

　　Archives of Orphans

　　In 2004, the Federation of Philanthropic Organizations in Henan Province and Shaolin Temple launched a “Campaign to Assist One Thousand Orphans”, providing aid to 1 036 very poor orphans in the Province who have lost both parents (but with guardians) and are under the age of 16. The Shaolin Temple will provide each of them with 560 RMB per year for their lives and studies until they come of age.

　　By instinct of a photographer, I decided to witness and record this act of kindness and love in the form of a photo archive. I would follow up and record changes in their lives every five years with different photographic methods.

　　“Archives of Orphans” is not just a work of visual art. It is also an important turning-point in my life and art. It has made me realize a new relationship between art and life.
